On Tuesday, England-based spirit producer Salcombe Distilling announced the release of a fund-raising gin made in collaboration with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Dubbed “Four Seas” in a nod to the four seas that surround the island nation, the new gin serves as a celebration of the RNLI’s upcoming 200th anniversary in March 2024.

“Watching over our shores for almost 200 years, the RNLI is one of the most recognisable, loved and respected charities in the UK and is made up mostly of volunteers who come from all walks of life and all professions, and who give their time to help protect and save lives at sea,” the distillery shared.

Described as a “British coastal gin,” Four Seas boasts a mix of four key botanicals, each “hand-sourced from where the four seas surrounding the British Isles meet its rich and rugged coastline.” Per the brand, this includes lemons smoked using oak chips from Scottish whisky casks, elderberry, sea buckthorn and sugar kelp. Also featured in the gin are juniper, coriander seed, angelica root and cardamom.

Salcombe Distilling will be donating 10% of the net price of this product to the RNLI, helping the charity to continue its life-saving efforts.

“The ocean is the inspiration for everything we do so through this collaboration we want to give back to our coastal communities,” Salcombe Distilling added.

“‘Four Seas’ by Salcombe Gin is a celebration of this community spirit and gives back to those who give their constant courage to save lives at sea. We donate 10% of net sales of every bottle to the RNLI to ensure that every bottle helps save lives at sea.”

Additionally, 1% of every bottle Salcombe Distilling sells is donated to the Marine Conservation Society to help protect and regenerate ocean habitats.

Four Seas Gin is available for sale through the distillery’s website, priced at £39.50 per 70cl bottle.
