Skellig Six18, an Irish gin and whiskey producer, is set to enter the U.S. market in Ohio around the beginning of March, The Spirits Business reported on Wednesday. The state’s alcohol sale and distribution overseer, Ohio Liquor (OHLQ), will feature Skellig Six18’s spirits, including its Irish Artisanal Gin, Small Batch Irish Whiskey and Triple Cask Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.

Cathal O’Connor, Skellig Six18’s Commercial Manager, expressed enthusiasm about Irish whiskey’s upward trajectory in the American high-proof spirits landscape.

“The Irish Cask and Craft festival is going to give consumers in Ohio access to a wide new range of premium Irish whiskey and we are excited to be at the forefront of this with Skellig Six18, doing our part to contribute to the growth of the category,” O’Connor said, per The Spirits Business.

OHLQ, in conjunction with Bord Bia, the Irish food board, is set to host the Irish Cask and Craft festival at Chateau Wine and Spirits in Dublin, Ohio, on March 3. This festival will present an extensive array of premium Irish whiskey options to Ohio consumers, with Skellig Six18 at the forefront.

Beyond whiskey, Skellig Six18 crafts a small-batch Irish artisanal gin at its Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry, distillery. Collaborating with sea and land foragers, chefs and fishermen, the brand uses local botanicals sourced from the woods and the sea. In the early stages, Skellig Six18 partnered with Michelin-starred chef Ross Lewis to formulate the gin’s flavor profile to “pair perfectly with food.”

To mark its Ohio debut, Skellig Six18 has organized three distinctive events across different cities. The Cincinnati Launch Event, scheduled for March 1 at Jungle Jim’s Fairfield, will precede the Cleveland Celebration on March 2 at Giant Eagle Strongsville. The Columbus Premiere on March 3 at Chateau Wine and Spirits will culminate the series.
