Cygnet Gin, a spirits brand founded by classical singer Katherine Jenkins OBE and Andrew Levitas, an artist and social-impact filmmaker, is set to launch its flagship products, Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin and Cygnet 22, in selected nationwide Waitrose and John Lewis stores in October.

“Waitrose and John Lewis have always been key targets from the offset when we were building our brand, so this represents a culmination of a lot of hard work from ourselves and the team,” founders Jenkins and Levitas said in a press release.

“As a Welsh-owned and born brand, we’re incredibly proud to be stocked across key stores in Wales and also to be bringing a drop of Wales into homes nationwide!”

This step, coming within a year of the brand’s 2022 inception, marks a significant stride towards its goal of becoming a prominent name in the United Kingdom’s gin market, Cygent Gin shared in the release.

The brand’s expansion involves making Cygnet available across 24 Waitrose and 12 John Lewis stores, in addition to its existing presence in three Harvey Nichols outlets. Staying true to its Welsh heritage, Cygnet Gin will also be accessible in key Waitrose and John Lewis stores in Wales.

Cygnet Gin has already gained traction in the hospitality sector throughout the U.K., securing on-trade stockists like Isabel, Chiltern Firehouse, The Maine Mayfair and Searcy’s — the last of which has integrated Cygnet 22 into a signature cocktail at The Portrait Restaurant in the National Portrait Gallery.

“John Lewis & Waitrose are 2 of the most trusted, loved & quintessential British brands,” Jenkins added. “At Cygnet Gin we share the same ethos on quality, family & sustainability which is why I couldn’t be more thrilled that Cygnet is now available in store to their valued customers & look forward to ‘working together to make a happier world.”

Aiming to challenge the norms of the traditionally male-dominated spirits industry, Jenkins debuted Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin, priced at £35, in 2022. The flagship offering boasts “vibrant and uplifting” notes from juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orris root, chamomile flower, pink grapefruit, citrus peels, licorice and almond. Following its success, the brand launched Cygnet 22 in March 2023, priced at £47.50, which incorporated Manuka honey, bee pollen, lemon balm, rose petals and white peppercorns into the botanical mix.

Starting October 2023, Cygnet 22 and Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin will be available in-store at selected Waitrose and John Lewis outlets. Additionally, they can be purchased online via Waitrose, John Lewis and Amazon Prime.
