UK’s ‘Highest Altitude Distillery’ Brings Its Earl Grey Gin to Canada

Canadian gin aficionados have something new to savor as The Forest Distillery, described as the “highest altitude distillery” in the United Kingdom, brings its Earl Grey Forest Gin to Canada. This new release follows a distribution agreement with BC Liquor Stores, according to The Spirits Business.
“We’re not huge fans of coloured and flavoured gins, but appreciate that lots of people do,” said The Forest Distillery Owner Lindsay Bond, per the report.
“Therefore, this seemed like a simple, natural way of creating a different product without resorting to additives. We are so proud to add Canada to the growing number of countries that we export it to.”
Earl Grey Forest Gin is a product of the Bond family’s craftsmanship, hailing from their award-winning distillery situated in the Peak District National Park. The gin comprises a curated selection of local forest ingredients: bilberry, wild raspberry, gorse flower, pine and moss. These elements are ground by hand using a pestle and mortar and blended with classic gin components such as organic juniper, coriander seed, licorice and vanilla.
The distillation process includes a single pass through a 30-liter pot still. The spirit is then enhanced with an Earl Grey Tea blend, crafted by Cheshire-based blenders Quinteassential, and cut with spring water sourced from below the distillery. According to the brand, Earl Grey Forest Gin offers a rich and sweet aroma, a palate characterized by a gentle infusion of Earl Grey tea and a finish that balances ripe tannins with citrus zest.
The Forest Distillery has expanded its international presence, exporting its products to Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Germany. Canadians can now look forward to purchasing the gin starting on November 18, available at 50 BC Liquor Stores in British Columbia.
