Edinburgh Gin and travel enthusiasts have something new to savor as Ian Macleod Distillers unveils the latest addition to its full-strength lineup: Key Lime & Ginger. As reported by DFNI Frontier on Wednesday, the new expression is exclusively crafted for Swiss-based travel retailer Avolta and will first hit shelves in the firm’s World Duty Free outlets in the U.K.

David Wilkinson, Edinburgh Gin’s Head Distiller, praised Key Lime & Ginger’s blend of zesty and spicy flavors.

“When developing Key Lime & Ginger, we were looking for something refreshing, that could balance the sharp acidity of lime with the warm spiciness of ginger,” Wilkinson shared, per the report.

“Key Lime & Ginger achieves this by starting with a refreshing bite of zesty key lime and finishing with tingling ginger spice. A warm but refreshing G&T and the ideal gin for a Gimlet or Gin Mule cocktail.”

Per DFNI Frontier, the rollout strategy will prioritize key World Duty Free stores in the U.K. before expanding to Avolta’s international locations.

Key Lime & Ginger joins Edinburgh Gin’s full-strength offerings, including Rhubarb & Ginger, Seaside and Classic. The brand also produces a wide range of gin liqueurs, such as Elderflower, Plum & Vanilla and Raspberry.

David de Miguel, Avolta’s Global Category Head of Liquor, expressed excitement about the exclusive partnership, noting the innovative edge Key Lime & Ginger brings to the company’s product lineup.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Ian Macleod Distillers and Edinburgh Gin with this exciting new and exclusive flavour, the perfect addition to our portfolio,” Miguel said.

Edinburgh Gin is also refreshing its packaging to reflect its “Filled with Wonder” ethos, emphasizing natural flavors. The new bottles feature 49% recycled glass, recyclable aluminum caps and FSC-certified paper labels.

Looking ahead, William Ovens, Ian Macleod Distillers’ Global Travel Retail Director, anticipates Key Lime & Ginger’s success, drawing comparisons to the acclaim earned by its Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn gin.

“We are delighted to unveil our new full-strength flavoured gin, Key Lime & Ginger, which demonstrates the flavour, craftsmanship and creativity of Edinburgh Gin,” Ovens noted, according to DFNI Frontier.

“We are confident that Key Lime & Ginger will prove to be as successful as Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn, which was voted the Best Berry Gin at the Scottish Gin Awards in 2022 and is now being rolled out throughout Global Travel Retail. It has quite a following, which I’m sure Key Lime & Ginger will replicate.”
