Craft Distillery Releases ‘World’s First’ Gin to be Made With 100% Australian-Grown Juniper

Craft distillery Kangaroo Island Spirits has recently introduced a product it describes as “the world’s first gin made with 100% Australian-grown juniper berries.” A limited-edition offering, only 1,500 bottles of the First Harvest Juniper Gin are available.

Aiming to stray away from imported ingredients, the gin uses botanicals cultivated in the distillery’s garden, including single-sourced Kangaroo Island-grown Australian juniper berries. According to the spirit producer, these juniper berries come from trees its original founders planted on the property back in 2006, which have only recently reached full maturity.

“Our juniper comes through bold, strong, and fresh,” Kangaroo Island Distillery said of its latest gin. “Native thyme, cardamom leaf and lemon grass balance the juniper with bright herbaceous notes that build complexity and make this gin easy to drink.”
