London’s newest immersive escape room experience, Escape The Power Cut at Control Room B, has been launched in partnership with Inception Group and Bacardi, the owner of Oxley Gin. This innovative offering comes in response to the growing demand for experiential encounters in the hospitality industry, Inception Group shared.
“Launching Escape The Power Cut at Control Room B with Bacardi we hope to offer a deeper dive into the 1950s, through the themed ‘escape room’, tailored drink offering and era-accurate narrative, adding a further layer of immersion for our guests behind the dials at the heart of Battersea Power Station,” explained Inception Group Co-Founder Charlie Gilkes, according to The Spirits Business.
During the experience, teams of five will embark on a race against time, decoding cryptic clues, unraveling mysteries and solving puzzles amidst the retro ambiance. The escape room’s array of challenges, including batteries, padlocks, hidden compartments, ultraviolet clues, symbols and dials, ensures that each team member can contribute their strengths to the mission.
Guests are presented with a welcome cocktail at the beginning of the experience, with another cocktail being served after it is “unlocked” as part of a puzzle.
Beverages on the menu include The Synchroscope, featuring Oxley Gin, lemon verbena liqueur, ginger and lemongrass cordial, pear purée, cloudy apple juice and fresh lime juice; and the Gas Wash, which combines Grey Goose L’Original vodka, bergamot liqueur, passion fruit purée, lime juice, and tropical fassionola syrup. For rum enthusiasts, there’s the Battery Licker, made with Bacardi Ocho rum, Disaronno liqueur, orgeat syrup and coffee. Escape The Power Cut also offers a variety of non-alcoholic options.
Escape The Power Cut at Control Room B is available every Saturday, with a ticket price of £50 ($64) per person, which includes the price of two cocktails. The 90-minute experience concludes with an opportunity for guests to relax and enjoy more drinks at the main bar.
“We absolutely love working with the Inception Group, bringing brands to life while creating amazing consumer experiences with premium cocktails like this is what makes this such a special partnership, and we are very proud to be working alongside them on this with Oxley Gin,” added Matt Bennett, prestige account manager at Bacardi, The Spirits Business reported.
Launched in 2009, Oxley Gin is cold-distilled in temperatures below the freezing point of water. According to the London dry gin brand, this process helps capture the freshness of its 14 “balanced” botanicals. Boasting tasting notes of clean zest and gentle juniper, Oxley Gin rests a higher-than-usual ABV of 47% and is priced at around $37 per 750ml bottle.
To the delight of gin and puzzle-solving enthusiasts, this is not the first time juniper spirits and escape rooms have collided. In September 2022, Ryan Reynolds-owned spirit brand Aviation Gin opened the doors to a new distillery and headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Beyond producing gin, the location offers an immersive escape room experience full of puzzles and Easter eggs.
