Aviation Gin Wants You to Tie the Knot at Its Distillery in Celebration of Leap Year

In an unusual celebration of Leap Year, Aviation Gin‘s Portland distillery is presenting couples with a unique opportunity to tie the knot on Feb. 29.

“Since February 29th only comes around once every four years, we figure we have no choice but celebrate the special day,” the brand explained. “And what better way to do so than with love and of course, gin!”

“This Leap Year, we’re offering weddings! That’s right, February 29th is about to become your potential anniversary date, as we’re offering up our place for $290 wedding ceremonies — but just for the day.”

Priced at a reasonable $290, the package includes the wedding ceremony held at the distillery, complete with an officiant “who’s as thrilled about gin as they are about love,” a slice of cake, five miniature cocktails and an informative tour of the distillery premises.

“Picture this: you’re tying the knot with your s/o, surrounded by the intoxicating aroma of botanicals and… complete strangers,” Aviation Gin added. “Yes, you’ll be taking a public tour, making friends out of fellow tour-goers as they witness your nuptials.”

“Sounds weird? Absolutely. But why not! What else are you doing on February 29th?”

For those captivated by the idea of commemorating love and a penchant for gin, additional details can be found on Aviation Gin’s website.

“Feeling the love?” the brand continued. “Reserve your spot and let’s make some matrimonial magic. Not sure? The next Leap Year is in 2028, but who’s planning that far ahead?”

“Not us. We might be busy making gin.”

In 2006, distiller Christian Krogstad and mixologist Ryan Magarian joined forces to launch Aviation American Gin. Quickly capturing the attention of enthusiasts, the spirit earned a devoted following for its juniper-light profile, which ultimately gave birth to the modern gin category.

Aviation Gin was later acquired by actor Ryan Reynolds in 2018 through a substantial investment. His involvement in both the creative and promotional aspects added a touch of celebrity flair to Aviation Gin, making it a notable player in the spirits industry. Diageo, the globe’s leading spirits producer, subsequently bought Aviation Gin and its parent firm, Davos Brands, in 2020.

In September 2022, Aviation Gin opened the doors to its distillery and headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Beyond producing gin, the location offers an immersive escape room experience, a cocktail lounge, a tasting room and now, weddings.
