Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABDL) has officially introduced Zoya Special Batch Gin. The move marks the company’s foray into the premium gin market and a “higher margin business,” the firm reported on Monday.

“I am delighted to announce our latest launch, Zoya Special Batch Gin under the ‘PremBrands’ vertical,” Alok Gupta, the Managing Director of ABD, shared in the report. “The newest addition to our portfolio, is not just an exceptional product experience but also a testament of our efforts to a higher value portfolio.”

Zoya is crafted from 100% grain and natural spirits and, according to the brand, boasts a unique finish derived from “delicate” juniper and a blend of 12 unnamed botanicals. ABD added that the new spirit is ideal for sipping or for pairing with tonic and soda water.

Bikram Basu, ABD’s Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, shed light on the significance of the brand’s name.

“Zoya, the name stands for joie de vivre,” Basu said, per the report. “It invites you to live, love, rejoice, with a beautiful blend of the finest juniper and 12 expertly selected botanicals. The craftsmanship of Zoya will not only find its way with gin enthusiasts, but also help grow the category.”

Zoya Special Batch Premium Gin is set to make its debut in Gurgaon, followed by subsequent launches in Maharashtra and other major cities across India. With a Maharashtra retail price of Rs. 2200 (about $26) for a 750-ml bottle, global availability is also on the horizon for this distinct addition to ABD’s expanding portfolio.

With a strong presence extending to more than 22 countries and a portfolio encompassing whisky, brandy, gin, rum and vodka, ABDL proudly asserts its status as India’s largest indigenous spirits company and the third-largest in the Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) sector. According to the spirits producer, Officer’s Choice, its flagship brand, has solidified its standing as a global bestseller, specifically in terms of volume. Moreover, ABDL emphasizes that within the past 5 years, it has held the exclusive distinction in India of introducing two “millionaire” brands, each achieving sales surpassing 10 lakh cases.
