Renais, the gin brand co-founded by actress Emma Watson and her brother Alex Watson, has forged a partnership with British spirits distributor Proof Drinks as part of its strategic expansion into the on-trade sector.

As reported by The Drinks Report on Tuesday, this development follows Renais’ successful market entry in the U.K., Italy, Germany and Australia, with the gin poised for a U.S. debut this spring.

Alex Watson expressed enthusiastic anticipation for the collaboration with Proof Drinks, emphasizing the organic demand Renais has garnered since its initial launch in May 2023.

“In just under a year, we have established exceptional organic demand for Renais, building our impressive portfolio of accounts from the ground up,” Watson added, per The Drinks Report.

“Now, with Proof’s fantastic wealth of experience and established relationships, we look forward to building on our momentum and further accelerating Renais’ growth across London and the UK.”

John Vider, Proof Drinks’ Managing Director, underscored the significance of Renais Gin joining the firm’s portfolio, citing its potential for growth in the super-premium gin market.

“With the visionary leadership of Emma and Alex Watson, their reach and influence add a unique dynamic that will undoubtedly amplify Renais’ presence here in the UK,” Vider continued.

“Alongside the craftsmanship and dedication of the team behind the brand, we are thrilled to grow our gin portfolio to support customers at all levels as the landscape evolves.”

Renais emerged from CEO Alex Watson’s vision to craft a spirit using wine grape by-products from his family’s vineyard in Chablis, France. Leveraging a decade of expertise in the luxury spirits industry, Watson, with the support of his sister Emma, ventured into establishing the brand. The gin’s botanical mix comprises repurposed pressed grand cru grapes, juniper berries, Kimmeridgian stone, angelica root, linden flowers, acacia honey, cubeb berries, lemon peel, whole lime slices, rock salt and coriander seed.

Renais Gin can be purchased through the Renais Spirits website, priced at £48.00 (about $60) per 70-cl bottle.
