In July 2023, the world of gin witnessed a modest amount of activity, as well-established brands and craft distilleries alike launched a humble handful of juniper spirits. To help keep you informed on all things botanicals, here’s a list of the ten top gins released this month that we think you need to know about.

‘A Truly Euphoric Experience’: Brand Behind Popular Indian Craft Gin Jaisalmer Releases Ashwagandha-Infused Collection

As July began, Radico Khaitan, the company behind Jaisalmer Indian craft gin, launched a new collection called “Happiness in a Bottle: A Happily Crafted Gin.” The collection includes three expressions: Joy of Juniper, Joy of Pink (marking the brand’s entry into the pink gin category) and Joy of Citrus.

Each gin features a creative blend of 15 botanicals, including Ashwagandha, known for its stress-relief properties. Amar Sinha, Radico Khaitan’s COO, expressed excitement about the new creation, stating that it tantalizes taste buds and uplifts spirits, making it perfect for celebrating happy moments in life.

‘Cling Cling, My Honeys’: ‘Love Island’ Host Maya Jama Teams Up With Gordon’s Gin

At the beginning of July, Gordon’s Gin teamed up with “Love Island” host and radio DJ Maya Jama for the “Clink with Pink” project. The partnership includes two limited-edition gin bottles featuring Jama’s signature stamp and phrases.

Additionally, Jama took on a creative role in the collaboration, which aims to bring people together and celebrate being yourself among friends. The “Love Island” will also showcase new Gordon’s Premium Pink gin cocktails and curate a series of events.

The limited-edition Jama bottles are available on Amazon U.K. for £17.50 ($22.29).

This New Indian Craft Gin Helps Raise Funds for Biodiversity Conservation Initiatives

At the start of July, Indian spirits producer Chhota Hazri Spirits launched Baagh, a contemporary craft gin with a prominent citrus profile, featuring Nagpur orange and lime with hints of spice. Available in Mumbai and Pune, the gin aims to attract urban thirty-somethings seeking responsibly crafted spirits.

A portion of the profits from Baagh will support agrobiodiversity and rewilding initiatives in Assam, India, known for its wildlife. The brand’s commitment to sustainability is emphasized by its tagline, “No Planet No Party.”

Baagh Gin is available at select outlets and bars in Mumbai, priced at Rs 1,995 ($24.14).

‘Gin That Stands Deliciously on Its Own’: Unique Collaboration Unveils The Old G, a Minority-Owned Spirit Brand

In mid-July, visionary artist Hebru Brantley and spirits veteran Peter Ibrahim launched The Old G, a minority-owned London dry gin brand that focuses on traditional production methods and uses zero artificial flavors or colors.

The limited-edition gin, featuring juniper berries, orange peel, lemon peel, licorice root, orris root, coriander and cardamom, aims to stand out on its own, requiring no modifiers or mixers to enhance its taste.

Priced at $34.99, The Old G is available in select states with plans for further expansion.

Britain’s Longest-Running Soap Opera ‘Coronation Street’ Now Has Its Own Gin

Teaming up with No. 186 Gin, the legendary soap opera “Coronation Street” introduced a bespoke gin in the middle of July, paying tribute to the show’s beloved character Hilda Ogden.

The gin features flavors of Manchester’s Eccles cake, currants, raisins, warm spice and orange zest, sweetened with honey in classic Old Tom fashion. It is available for £33.95 ($44.38) per 70cl bottle from Master of Malt.

‘The United Taste of America’: Gin Made Exclusively With Botanicals Sourced From US Debuts

Near the middle of July, Four Corners American Gin made its debut. Unlike traditional gins, this spirit seeks to embody the “taste of America” by exclusively using American botanicals.

Led by gin distiller Christian Krogstad and herbalist Dr. Elizabeth McElligott, the team created a distinctive gin with floral, citrus and vanilla notes, blending juniper, soft flowers and black pepper. Key botanicals include wild juniper, cranberries, wild cherry bark, cascara sagrada and yerba santa.

Priced at $39.99, the new gin is available for purchase on the Four Corners Gin website.

‘A Taste of Italy in a Bottle’: Italian Gin Brand Erbe Makes Its Debut With Lime and Sage Expression

Near the end of July, Italian gin brand Erbe launched its debut expression, Erbe Lime & Sage. The gin, made with Italian Alps spring water, won a Gold medal in the “Ultra Premium” category at The Spirits Business’ Global Gin Masters 2023.

Founder and CEO Gerbe Suttels combined his passion for drinks and hospitality to create Erbe, aiming to capture Italy’s essence and culinary treasures. Erbe Lime & Sage is available for €47 ($52.02) per 500ml bottle through the brand’s website.

Bourbon Vanilla-Infused Gin Brand Sir Edmond Enters New Market

In late July, Dutch brand Sir Edmond Gin partnered with Fenix Drinks to release its bourbon vanilla-infused gin in the Czech Republic.

Sir Edmond Gin, produced at the Herman Jansen distillery in the Netherlands, features botanicals like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, angelica root and juniper. The gin is named after Edmond Albius, who revolutionized vanilla cultivation.

Sir Edmond Gin also donates a portion of proceeds to the African Wildlife Foundation for wildlife conservation and habitat protection.

‘Our Richest, Biggest and Boldest Gin Yet’: Distillery Behind World’s 1st Color-Changing Gin Unveils Bitter Orange Expression

At the end of July, Australian distillery Ink Gin, known for its color-changing gin, introduced a new expression called Ink Bitter Orange Gin. Crafted for use in Negronis and aperitifs, this orange-forward gin offers a bold and rich profile.

Head distiller Quentin Brival carefully developed the gin, combining bitter and sweet oranges, bergamot, grapefruit, vanilla and chamomile flowers to achieve a balanced and approachable taste.

Ink Bitter Orange Gin is available for purchase at $89.00 per 700ml bottle on the distillery’s online shop.

‘Makes You Wanna Mosh to 90’s Grunge’: Australian Rock Band The Superjesus Debuts ‘Sumo’ Gin

To wrap up July, The Superjesus, an Australian rock band, launched a limited-edition gin called “Sumo” to mark the 25th anniversary of its debut album.

Created in collaboration with Groglords, the gin boasts punchy, fruity flavors with green tea, cumquat, mandarin and lemon peel notes, while maintaining a “premium” mouthfeel.

Only 250 bottles of Sumo Gin were produced, available for $89.00 per 500ml bottle through Groglords.
