UPI reported on Tuesday that a stretch of Interstate 80 in Placer County, Northern California, was strewn with what looked like hundreds of Coors Light cans after a big rig overturned on the ice-covered highway. The driver and passenger both sustained minor injuries and were treated by first responders.

The California Highway Patrol shared photos of the accident on social media with a caption that read the following:

“Apparently the mountains aren’t turning blue, but the cans are. Icy roads didn’t stop this driver from popping the top and emptying more than a few,” the caption read for CHP Gold Run’s Instagram.

Law enforcement warned the public not to view the crash as an opportunity for free beer.

“Don’t get any ideas. This scene will be cleaned up.”

Those following CHP Gold Run’s Instagram account shared their thoughts in the comments section.

“Damn how many party fouls is this,” a user quipped.

“Well, at least it’s on ice,” another commenter joked.

This incident rings eerily similar to a train derailment in Montana during April 2023, which led to hundreds of Coors Light cases spilling into the Clark Fork River.

Boxes of Blue Moon, another brand owned by Molson Coors, spilled into the river as well. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the derailment area was secured by local authorities. Whether residents were able to sneak off with some cases of free beer remains a mystery.

In India in December 2022, a delivery truck crashed, sending thousands of bottles of booze into the busy streets. The driver abandoned the vehicle shortly after.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they witnessed locals running into the road and collecting the bottles of spilled liquor, referring to the incident as an “early Christmas gift.”

Authorities eventually managed to get ahold of just shy of 1,000 bottles and were on the hunt for the missing driver.
