The Try Guys Drink Every Celebrity Alcohol: See How They Stack Up, With a Surprising Win for a Country Singer’s Rum

This week Keith Habersberger of the popular YouTube channel, The Try Guys took on the world of celebrity spirits. Keith has been eating his way through menus from restaurant franchises all over the U.S., much to the concern of his fans as they worry about his health. He recently ate everything on the Cheesecake Factory’s legendary menu, a feat that took three-hour-long episodes to accomplish. With a little help from his fellow Try Guy, Zach Kornfeld, Keith drank a range of librations from A-listers, fashion icons and athletes on the latest episode of the series.

The duo ran through the gamut of celebrity-owned booze brands but may have missed a few along the way. If you would like to see the lists of gin, whiskey, tequila and rum look for the raider’s network of listicles from our site and sister sites featuring other spirits.

Taste is subjective and many people disagree on what makes a spirit the best, but the Try Guys love to try after all and these are their opinions on these particular celebrity booze brands.

Best Celebrity Spirits

Steven Soderbergh’s Singani 63

With an enthusiastic, “Yeah, that’s f**king great,” from Zach, the Try Guys were impressed by the legendary film director’s brandy. Singani 63 is distilled at 6,000 feet altitude and surprised Keith with a new experience that he called, “refreshing in the way that wine is researching.”

Peyton Manning’s and Andy Roddick’s Sweetens Cove Bourbon

The Try Guys loved the high-proof and bright, citrusy beginning of the bourbon from Manning and Roddick. The bourbon is made by Kentucky’s first female master distiller Marianne Eaves, a legend in her field. The YouTubers acknowledge the quality of this celebrity-endorsed spirit although a writer for Rick and Morty, Garrick Bernard, was a little upset that Manning “is this good at another thing,” considering his illustrious football career.

Snoop Dogg’s INDOGGO

When the Try Guys popped the top of INDOGGO, the vibrant aroma got them excited. Keith described it as if “somebody opened a Kool-Aid dust packet and the dust went everywhere.” Zach was very pleased with the Snoop Dogg’s creation and it made one of Zach’s top picks of the day.

Ryan Reynold’s Aviation Gin

Ryan Reynold’s gin received high praise from the Try Guys for tasting exactly how a gin should taste. In addition to juniper, Avaition is made with cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peel. Keith was impressively pleased saying “That’s a refreshing gin for a gin and tonic right there.”

A$AP Rocky’s Mercer + Prince Canadian Whisky

The Try Guys fell in love with A$AP Rocky’s Canadian whiskey. Mercer + Prince is aged for a minimum of four years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and is “influenced” by Mizunara oak. They praised its sweetness and overall pleasant taste.

All Around Winner

Kenny Chesney’s Blue Chair Bay Coconut

The Try Guys declared Kenny Chesney’s coconut rum the winner of the day. The guys were talking a lot of smack before giving Blue Chair Bay Coconut a sip but after trying it they all were hooked. This prompted Zach to apologize to Mr. Chesney and call the flavored rum phenomenal.  This is probably the most glowing endorsement that the Country singer’s rum has received and shows the success of his ever-growing lineup.

Earlier this year, Chesney released a 16 Year Old Expression from US Virgin Islands to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary. This edition isn’t flavored like the others and would probably suit those with less of a sweet tooth, unlike the rest of his flavored lineup.

Worst Celebrity Spirits

Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka

Crystal Head Vodka left the guy feeling burnt. The sensation of drinking Dan Aykroyd’s vodka made Zach feel like it was melting his face. Despite being impressed with the bottle, the Try Guys were left disappointed with the vodka itself.

Rita Ora’s Próspero Tequila

The shocking sweetness and confusing design placed Rita Ora’s tequila among the worst for the Try Guys. The taste was compared to cotton candy vodka. However, the bottle design left eh most lasting impression. Zach compared the bottle to “a menu at like a Times Square Mexican restaurant.”

Jorge Masvidal’s Recuerdo Mezcal

The mixed martial artist’s mezcal failed to receive any positive remarks from the guys. Immediately the smell of Recuerdo reminded Keith of a beach town condo but the taste was far worse. It was deemed, “floral and smokey and burny,” a combination of flavors and sensations that did not find favor with The Try Guys.

Worst of the Worst Celebrity Spirit

Elon Musk’s Tesla Tequila

The Try Guys were maybe the most disappointed with Elon Musk’s tequila. It is possible the price tag had something to do with it since they paid $1,100 for the tequila, not including shipping which brought the total to $1,400. Keith was not pleased and said, “It’s the most expensive spit I’ve ever spat.” While Zach wasn’t surprised that it was bad and felt like with all things related to Musk, it was “style over substance and faulty as hell.”

The Try Guys managed to uncover both hidden gems and disappointing flops in the crowded market of celebrity spirits. From the heights of Singani 63 to the lows of Tesla Tequila, celebrity-endorsed spirits can be tricky when deciding which ones to give a try.
