A Texas A&M student accused of arson and burglary at the George Bush Presidential Library complex admitted to consuming sleep medication and whiskey prior to the vandalism, police said, according to KBTX News 3.
Kobe Hunter Mcadoo, 20, of College Station, was released Sunday from the Brazos County Detention Center Sunday on bonds totaling $41,000, per KBTX. He is charged with public intoxication, burglary of a building with the intent to commit arson and burglary of vehicles.
Texas A&M Police said McAdoo was found at the complex just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning without shoes and “covered in blood and appeared to be very intoxicated and highly emotional,” according to KBTX. Officers said he had blood on his face, hands and feet.
Police said Mcadoo set fire to a vehicle in the parking lot, broke into another vehicle and attempted to set a fire inside the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center, which is next to the Bush Library and Museum.
KBTX reported that Mcadoo, a 5-foot-10 white male, was seen kicking in windows at the conference center, and a large, metal block had been thrown through a window. Officers found a lighter, alcohol wipes, hand sanitizer and Mcadoo’s cell phone at the scene.
Mcadoo was taken to a hospital and later taken to the county jail. Campus police said the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident and additional charges were possible, per KBTX.
