Two women face a Level 5 felony charge of attempted battery with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor theft accusation after reportedly stealing a $419 bottle of booze from an Illinois liquor store and later attempting to run over the shop’s clerk with a car.

The incident unfolded on Oct. 9 at Winfield Liquors, the Chicago Tribune reported on Monday, with law enforcement arriving at the location around 7 p.m. The store’s clerk claimed that one of the women absconded with a $419 bottle of premium liquor, prompting him to intervene outside.

According to the report, the situation escalated when a black GMC Arcadia associated with the suspects, identified as Ronnesha Cotton (40) and Nadja Anderson (38), attempted to run over the clerk. Notably, the incident was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras.

Authorities later recovered the suspect vehicle, a Hertz rental bearing Florida license plates. The vehicle’s impoundment yielded critical evidence, including a wig and a blue face mask resembling the suspect’s attire during the theft, along with Cotton’s identification and a pill bottle linked to Anderson, per the Chicago Tribune.

Although both individuals remain at large, Cotton faces a $5,000 bond, while Anderson’s bond is set at $3,500, according to the report.
