‘For Our Planet, and for Generations to Come’: Mijenta Tequila Partners With Women’s Earth Alliance to Tackle Inequality in Mexico’s Agricultural Sector

Mijenta Tequila, one of the most recognizable names in the additive-free agave spirits movement, is partnering with the Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA) for a month-long giveback initiative.
Throughout April, Mijenta will donate a portion of its proceeds to the WEA’s ongoing work in Mexico, with a particular focus paid to the organization’s Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator. Among others, supported projects include Poj Kää, which works within the indigenous Ayuujk community of Tlahuitoltepec, and AfroCaracolas, an anti-racist and Afro-feminist collective based in Guerrero.
“What we truly respect and admire about WEA is the thoughtful, holistic approach the organization has taken to addressing the multitude of challenges that women in Mexico’s agricultural sector face,” says Elise Som, Mijenta’s Co-Founder and Director of Sustainability.
“We are extremely proud to contribute to the amazing and vital work being undertaken by the local, women-led organizations participating in the Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator program. This Earth Month, we are thrilled to be able to continue to raise funds that will support women working to protect and honor their land, heritage and communities.”
Founded in 2006, the WEA acts as a decentralized global network focused on uplifting grassroots solutions to environmental and economic issues. Over the years, the organization has affected change in Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Haiti, India and more.

For Mijenta, supporting the WEA is the latest in a series of sustainable giveback initiatives. In 2022, the brand successfully earned distinction as the world’s first B-Corp certified tequila. Earlier this year, Mijenta doubled down on that mission, paying it forward to the endangered jaguar habitats of Ecuador.
