‘Enjoy the Gin, Keep the Bottle’: Mataroa Gin Releases Limited Edition Bottle Created By Popular Designer Themis Z

Take a visual journey to Greece with the country’s iconic white, blue and gold. Mataroa Gin has partnered with International Designer Themis Z to release a limited edition bottle design inspired by the “precious heritage of Greek clothing.”

Mataroa wrote that this would be the “first of many” collaborations for its gin. The minimalist bottle design features symmetrical Aegean blue ovals surrounded by metallic gold on a crisp white backdrop.

Mataroa urges you to “enjoy the gin” and “keep the bottle.” Maybe turn it into some crafty home décor?

Themis Z, as a designer of luxury resort wear, is no stranger to creating captivating compositions. The Greek clothing-inspired bottle echoes the design of similarly themed dinnerware and silk cushions found for sale on the designer’s website.

While the design is limited edition, the gin inside is — luckily — here to stay. Mataroa Gin was first established in 2019. The brand has lovingly taken its name from the Mataroa ship, which sailed in 1945. Among the ship’s passengers were 173 children, “all Hebrew refugees saved by the OSE organization,” Mataroa wrote.

The Mediterranean dry gin is made with 12 botanicals: Cypriot chamomile, French lavender, Greek mastic resin, Moroccan mandarin, Spanish orange, Italian orris, French angelica, Syrian bay leaf, Tunisian coriander, Egyptian lemon peels, Croatian juniper and Turkish licorice. While quite the expansive list to read, the dedication to sourcing quality botanicals is well appreciated.
