WSMV 4 reported last week that Tennessee’s Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating whether Luke Bryan’s Luke’s 32 Bridge bar overserve the missing college student, Riley Strain, before his disappearance in Nashville.

According to the news outlet, the investigation started after rumors began to circulate on social media claiming Strain was overserved at the bar and escorted out the back door.

“where is riley??” multiple users commented on the bar’s Instagram page.

Luke’s 32 Bridge faced backlash on social media for not ensuring Strain got to his intended destination safely.

“There are no specific rules or statutes that governs escorting out intoxicated patrons from their businesses or assisting in getting someone home,” TABC Communications Director Aaron Rummage said in a statement, according to WSMV 4. “However, state law prohibits serving alcoholic beverages to someone who is visibly intoxicated.”

According to Rummage, violations of this sort are considered class A misdemeanors.

TC Restaurant Group, the institution behind Luke Bryan’s bar, claims the bar did not overserve Strain. The restaurant group issued a statement claiming that Strain “purchased and was served one alcoholic drink and two waters.”

The restaurant group claimed they escorted Strain “through [their] Broadway exit at the front of our building. He was followed down the stairs with one member of his party. The individual with Riley did not exit and returned upstairs.”

TC Restaurant Group maintains that it is complying with the investigation, and sends prayers to Riley Strain’s loved ones.

The Disappearance of Riley Strain: a Timeline

Strain, a 22-year-old student at the University of Missouri, took a trip to Nashville with his fraternity brothers.

The group went out on the evening of Friday, March 8. Strain was reported to have called his mother at 7:30 p.m. to say hello and tell her he was enjoying himself with his friends.

Later that evening, Strain was allegedly kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge and was last seen on Gay Street at 9:52 p.m. on video footage.

Strain’s friends attempted to track him through social media and call his phone.

The Independent reported that Strain’s friends dialed 911 the following Saturday at 1:40 p.m., according to WSMV 4.

On Sunday, Strain’s bank card was found near the Cumberland river, according to NewsChannel 5 Nashville WTVF.
