LeBron James’ Lobos 1707 Tequila has teamed up with Chilled Magazine for an all-star cocktail competition.

The Best-In-Class Cocktail Challenge invites bartenders from across the country to invent two original recipes; one oriented around Lobos 1707 Reposado, and the other highlighting the brand’s bittersweet sherry wine cask-finish. The winner, crowned at the end of October, will become the next Lobos Brand Ambassador with a $30,000 contract to boot.

“We aim for best-in-class in everything that we do; from our liquid to our team,” said Diego Osorio, Founder and CCO of Lobos 1707. “Our partnership with Chilled Media follows the same pursuit as we search for a best-in-class mixologist to join our pack. The cocktail community is full of impressive talent, so we know it’ll be difficult to narrow down from all the entries.”

Judges for the competition will include Osorio, master mixologist Dale DeGroff, Chilled 100 National Director Wendy Hodges, Lobos CMO Cindy Wang Simms and Senior Director of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits Bridget Albert.

Since launching in 2020, Lobos 1707 has released a Joven, Reposado, limited-edition Añejo, Extra Añejo and Mezcal.

Though LeBron James is often recognized as the public-facing figurehead of the brand, other celebrity investors include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maverick Carter, Anthony David, Draymond Green and Rich Paul. Together, the A-list roster has tossed its hat into an increasingly crowded celebrity tequila market, going up against competitors like Michael Jordan, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Submission criteria for the Best-In-Class Challenge can be found here; entries must be received by October 15.
