‘We’ve Become Friends’: Kid Rock, Former Face of Bud Light Backlash, Bros Out With Beer Brand’s CEO

Kid Rock has a new drinking buddy: the CEO of Anheuser-Busch. On Joe Rogan’s podcast, Rock called the company’s CEO, Brendan Whitworth, “a great guy.”

Rock’s new bromance seems like an odd choice, especially considering nearly one year ago the musician filmed himself shooting at a stack of Bud Light cases in a viral TikTok video during the Dylan Mulvaney controversy.

The singer made light of the incident, claiming it was a “tantrum with a machine gun.”

“Man, I was just having fun, to be honest with you,” Rock said. “I was pissed, but it wasn’t like it was going to ruin my day, let alone my life. I was kind of like, ‘What the f–k are they doing?”

On “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan referred to Rock as “the dude who took out Bud Light.”

Rock admitted that he became the poster child for Bud Light backlash. Yet, it appears he couldn’t remain mad at the beer brand for too long.

In August, Rock outraged Conservatives after he was caught drinking from one of those blue cans of controversy at a concert. A Conservative podcast host, Tim Pool, shared the image of the star on X, formerly known as Twitter, and captioned it with one word: treason.

Yet it appears 2024 might be a year of redemption for Bud Light post Mulvaneygate.

Donald Trump, who is currently emerging as the Republican frontrunner for this year’s election according to CBS News, forgave the brand mid-February. It’s been reported this sudden about-face may have been encouraged by the Ultimate Fighting Championship President, Dana White.

Interestingly enough, Rock, Trump and White have been rather chummy lately. In fact, Rock says he met Whitworth during a boy’s night out with the former president at a UFC Event.

Rock shared the details of their boozy meet-cute with Rogan on the podcast:

“After five minutes of talking to him — I’m with Trump, there in Dana [White]’s green room. I go to Trump, I go, ‘See that dude behind me?’ I go, ‘That’s the CEO of Bud Light – er, of Anheuser-Busch.’ And Trump’s like, ‘You wanna go talk to him?’ Which, in my mind, Trump said, ‘You wanna go f–k with him?”

The three of them bonded at the event, and Rock invited Whitworth to his home in Nashville.

“F–k, we broke bread. Got f—ed up on Bud Light. We f—ing bowled. Did all this fun s–t.”

Rock claimed Whitworth offered him a business deal, but he declined and preferred to keep their relationship strictly in the friend zone.
