People reported on Monday that a bartender working at New York’s American Hotel backed up claims from pop singer, Justin Timberlake, that he only drank one martini the night he was arrested and charged with a DWI.
Timberlake was arrested in New York after a night out at the Sag Harbor hotel at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday after police say he sped through a stop sign and into oncoming traffic. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Officers pulled over the “SexyBack” singer and claimed his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy,” according to People.
“A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” a report filed by the police read.
When he was asked how much he drank, Timberlake told police he had one martini. An employee at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor supported these claims.
“If he was drinking more, it wasn’t here,” they said in an exclusive with People.
The singer is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.
USA Today reported the singer brought up the DWI with his fans during one of his concerts in Chicago.
“We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights. It’s been a tough week, but you’re here and I’m here and nothing can change this moment right now,” Timberlake expressed. “I know I’m sometimes hard to love, but you keep on loving me and I love you right back. Thank you so much!”
