Hennessy announced the launch of a new campaign called “Made for More,” meant to show a new side to the brand’s cognac. The commercial, which touted the cocktail-friendly nature of Hennessy, featured the talents of the singer and actress Teyana Taylor and “Snowfall” actor, Damson Idris.
The campaign is set to launch on April 8 and will be featured at a variety of music festivals starting with J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival.
“Hennessy is well known everywhere but people don’t always know about how versatile it is – how it brings more flavor, depth and complexity to all kinds of cocktails,” said Global Chief Marketing Officer Julie Nollet of Hennessy in a news release. “Our new ‘Made for More’ campaign is bringing to life this notion of 1+1 = 3, showcasing the unlimited possibilities and introducing another side of the brand with beauty, fun and open-mindedness. It shakes up the brand perceptions and builds on its legacy for a new generation.”
Hennessy is known for collaborating with accomplished artists. In June, the brand tapped the Grammy-winning rapper Nas to celebrate Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary with the release of a limited-edition Hennessy V.S. bottle.
The brand explained how multifaceted artists like Taylor and Idris personified Hennessy’s versatile qualities, which is why it chose them to star in the cognac brand’s five-part video campaign. Taylor claimed that she was “super excited to embark upon this journey,” and that Hennessy was her “favorite Cognac.”
Director Andreas Nilsson, who is known for music videos and “iconic” commercials, shot the five films.
“Damson Idris and Teyana Taylor are two artists who are exploding at the moment and I wanted to make sure we captured their essence,” said Nilsson. “Even when he’s playing, Damson exudes style! And Teyana is just the epitome of cool. I think these qualities shine through in spades and fit perfectly with this new direction for Hennessy.”
Hennessy additionally hired Micaiah Carter to photograph the campaign. Carter’s work has been featured in Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, GQ and many other publications.

“The chance to work with such an iconic brand was just one I couldn’t say no to,” Idris expressed. “When I think of Hennessy I think of my three older brothers, I think of amazing memories. The visuals are stylish, the films are fun, it’s magic. It’s cinema.”
