On Friday, a Nebraska man found himself facing charges after allegedly burglarizing a gas station. As reported by KLIN, the man left the premises with a few 100-ml liquor bottles estimated to be worth a total of $7.17.
The incident unfolded on the morning of Feb. 9, with Lincoln Police responding to an alarm activation at a Casey’s General Store in Lincoln around 3:13 a.m. Upon arrival, officers observed a shattered front glass entrance door, accompanied by a concrete fragment on the ground, according to KLIN. LPD Captain Todd Kocian stated in the report that surveillance footage revealed the suspect using the concrete chunk to forcefully gain entry into the store and make off with multiple “shooters.”
Miniatures, commonly called mini bottles, nips or shooters, are compact containers designed to hold around 100 milliliters of alcoholic beverages. These small bottles are often meant to be used as a single serving and are frequently sold in hotel minibars and gas stations.
According to the report, law enforcement officers were dispatched less than an hour later to a nearby U-Stop gas station in response to a disturbance call. There, they found a 24-year-old individual, later identified as the man involved in the incident. The suspect now faces burglary charges, with an estimated $800 in damages to Casey’s General Store.
In another similar incident of alleged alcohol theft, someone broke into a 400-year-old English building that housed a gin business — only to flee with display booze bottles containing water.
