TikTok influencer Kendall Kiper has some thoughts on how to get free drinks from men at bars. She shared her strategy in a TikTok video, which has since gone viral, amassing 3.4 million views and upwards of 576,000 likes.

Kiper said the method apparently works “99% of the time.” The technique involves reverse psychology, which Kiper uses to avoid opening a bar tab whenever she goes out. In a video captioned “praying only girls see this HAHAHA,” The 21-year-old TikTok star said she does this “way more often than she care[s] to admit.”

She emphasized the most important part was finding the target to buy her drink, through a process she called “scouting.”

Kiper suggests standing in line at the bar and scouting for a guy who looks like they have a “big ego.”

The bigger the ego the better, apparently, as Kiper considers it to be a “big factor in this.”

Although it may be difficult to spot a person with a big ego after a mere few seconds of observation, it may make sense to search for highly appearance-focused individuals exhibiting narcissistic traits. Science Direct claims overt signs of narcissism involve excessive preoccupation with one’s appearance, and striving to be the center of attention.

She suggests approaching the individual at the bar, asking him what he’s going to order, complimenting his drink choice and saying what she is planning to order, prior to offering to buy him a drink.

According to Kiper, the response that ensues is usually some form of: “What? No, what? Let me buy you a drink.”

Kiper concedes her approach may be a little manipulative to men, but then quips that 95% of the time, “men treat us like shit.”

She concludes the video with, “So, girl, just get your free drink and move on.”

If you don’t think reverse psychology is your strong suit, or you’re a more introverted personality type — you can just stick to making drinks at home or doing shots of barrel-aged Fireball Dragon Reserve in your apartment.
