Mystery Distillery Behind ‘Taste of Brexit’ Farage Gin Revealed

The previously unnamed Farage Gin distillery was revealed last Friday. Cornish Rock Gin, which originally denied connection to the “taste of Brexit” spirits, shared with CornwallLive that it did, in fact, distill the gins.

The release of the gin trio was first announced on Sept. 4. The former Brexit party leader’s spirits come in red, white and blue in efforts of expressing a “patriotic take on this quintessentially British drink,” as stated in the product launch video.

When first announced, Twitter users were quick to voice distaste in both the gins and the mysterious distillery that made them. The only information released about the Farage Gin distiller was that it was “artisan” and “in the heart of Cornwall,” as detailed on Farage’s website. This led to bottle comparisons and the discovery that Cornish Rock Gin received an EU grant in the past.

Along with this information, photos were found of the owners pictured with Farage, which The Guardian shares here. When questioned by The Guardian on Sept. 5, the couple behind Cornish Rock Gin, George and Angela Malde, said that it wasn’t them; they’re “too busy.”

When confirming her distillery’s involvement with CornwallLive, Malde said: “I didn’t think it was fair to hound me. It’s job opportunity and Cornwall being promoted in a whole new sphere.” Malde explained that Cornish Rock Gin doesn’t actually sell the gin, they only made it, and she believes that “gin is for everybody.”
