‘I’ve Never Seen a Drunk Dog Before’: Inebriated Pooch Spends Night at Vet After Drinking Nearly 2 Bottles of Booze While Owner Was Away

Amid the holiday season, one South Jersey canine named Jack, a 5-year-old husky and shepherd mix, took celebrations to a whole new level when his owner returned home to find him in a stumbling, inebriated state. According to reports, the sneaky pooch had not only emptied a bottle of Baileys Irish Cream but had also indulged in a large serving of vodka, leaving behind a comical scene of canine revelry.

A TikTok video posted by Jack’s owner, Mary, captured the aftermath, showing him struggling to maintain his balance as she calls for him to walk forward.

TikTok users were quick to comment on the unusual moment, with one saying he had “never seen a drunk dog before.” Another wrote, “At least he’s a happy drunk,” while a third pointed out that Jack had “just failed a field sobriety test.”

Mary humorously remarked on the empty bottles, highlighting that the Baileys was more than halfway full before Jack’s escapade. Meanwhile, the vanilla-flavored Smirnoff Vodka was found on its side with only a quarter of the bottle left. While alcohol is clearly unsafe for canine consumption, it appears Jack has a taste for the sweeter, lower-ABV stuff.

Despite the humorous scene, Mary took swift action, contacting poison control and bringing Jack to the vet for treatment. The vet administered IV fluids to rehydrate the pup, who spent the night under observation.

To everyone’s surprise, Jack emerged from his alcohol-induced adventure unscathed. The vet even reported to Mary that the dog was “prancing around like he’s not even hungover.”

Mary later discovered Jack’s method, realizing he had used a window bench to access the counter and procure the bottles. Numerous bite marks were also found on the caps.

While TikTok users playfully suggested renaming Jack to “Jack Daniels,” this incident marks only the latest in a series of animals getting drunk on alcohol. In October, an elephant believed to be intoxicated went on a rampage through a village in India. Injuring at least two people amid its frenzy, the lone animal was found to have stolen some of the locals’ home-brewed booze.
