Diageo, the British alcohol giant behind Guinness, Captain Morgan, Johnnie Walker and more, is expanding its ready-to-drink cocktail collection with a tequila-centric addition.
Made using Astral Blanco — a brand the company acquired in 2020 — the new Astral Margarita combines tequila, lime juice and triple sec for a back-to-basics rendition of the famous recipe. It’s the sixth addition to Diageo’s cocktail range, joining the Ketel One Espresso Martini, Ketel One Cosmopolitan, Bulleit Old Fashioned, Bulleit Manhattan and Tanqueray Negroni.
“We are committed to bringing bartender-quality cocktails straight to our consumers’ fingertips, so hosts can focus on enjoying moments with their guests, worry-free,” explained Nikhil Shah, Brand Director at Diageo.
“We are thrilled with reception of The Cocktail Collection so far, and with the margarita’s enduring appeal, it is our hope that we will reach even more cocktail enthusiasts with our newest offering.”
Since launching in 2006, Astral has added to its portfolio with a Reposado and Añejo. Expanding beyond spirits, the brand launched its Adobo Brick Project last year, upcycling spent agave fibers into wooly bricks used on construction projects throughout Mexico.
On the tequila side of the market, Diageo also owns George Clooney’s Casamigos, Don Julio, DeLeón and 21Seeds.
