Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is venturing into the lucrative agave spirits industry with an investment in Tequila Volteo.

Headed up by Spain-based drinks group Zamora Company, the brand will launch in the US this summer with a blanco, reposado and cristalino tequila priced at $65, $78 and $89 respectively. Prescott’s investment stake has not been announced, though the presence of an A-list football star will surely help Zamora break into the US market one way or another.

“Dak Prescott isn’t only a remarkable athlete and a role model to others, he has a sharp mind for business and marketing, and he doesn’t invest in a project unless he completely and truly believes in it,” said Matt Appleby, CEO of Zamora’s US division.

As celebrity-owned tequila trends to new heights, several NFL stars have begun getting in on the action.

In 2020, former Green Bay Packers safety Jim Bob Morris debuted El Bandido Tequila alongside NHL Hall-of-Famer Chris Chelios. Last February, media darling Travis Kelce announced an investment in Casa Azul Tequila Soda (eventually spotted in the hands of Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game).

That said, Prescott’s portfolio is already brimming with profitable side hustles. In addition to his $40 million annual salary, the quarterback has scored endorsement deals for AT&T, Adidas, 7-Eleven and Pepsi alongside investments in fitness startup OxeFit and Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.
