On Tuesday, Bud Light unveiled its 2024 Super Bowl commercial, starring musical artist Post Malone, former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, UFC CEO Dana White and a new character: The Bud Light Genie.
“This year, we’re unleashing the Bud Light Genie and all his magic on Super Bowl LVIII, just in time for NFL fans to crack open a Bud Light and join in on the fun of an ‘Easy Night Out’,” Bud Light Vice President of Marketing said in a news release. “And we’re bringing that magic from the screen straight to Vegas this year, with epic experiences and unparalleled access for our fans, including custom Super Bowl LVIII packaging in Vegas and a once-in-a-lifetime concert with Zach Bryan and Leon Bridges.”
The concert, “Bud Light Backyard Tour Presents Zach Bryan,” will be this Friday at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
In the commercial, titled “Easy Night Out,” a man wearing a Manning jersey, who is watching football with his friends, opens a refrigerator, which contains a number of Bud Light bottles. The bottle in the forefront is glowing and shaking, and the man grabs that one and cracks it open. Immediately, the Bud Light genie appears and grants wishes to the party.
The groups makes their initial wishes: “’80s metal hair,” “filthy rich,” “invisible,” “giant bicep,” “a sweet ride.” Then, they head out on the town with the genie (in their new sweet ride, of course). They get drinks at a bar, and the genie gives the bartender more hands with which to pour more Bud Lights. The man in the Manning jersey (who at this point is rocking ’80s metal hair) wishes Manning was his best friend, and boom, Manning appears in the bar. A woman in the group then wishes for Post Malone, and he appears at the bar.
The group goes on to have a great night, teleporting to an MMA fight weigh-in (conducted by White) and then a house party, at which point a Tyrannosaurus rex appears. Post Malone wished for it, it turns out.
As the dinosaur roars and frightens the partygoers, the man in the Manning jersey makes one final wish: “Let’s go to Super Bowl LVIII.”
“Now we’re talking!” the Bud Light Genie says, and the commercial cuts to black with the Bud Light ad appearing.
“The Super Bowl is the highlight of the NFL season for any player, and it’s always been a highlight for the Bud Light team as well,” Manning said in the news release. “We had a lot of fun making this commercial, and I’m sure a lot of people are going to be thinking through what they would wish for if they were lucky enough to meet the Bud Light Genie.”
This is Malone’s third year in a row partnering with Bud Light for the Super Bowl.
“I’m here for the three-peat and stoked to be back with Bud Light for my third Super Bowl commercial,” Post Malone said in the news release. “We created something truly epic and pretty damn funny together that I know the fans will love.”
