Kokomo may not exist as a place in real life but the name is certainly carrying on a tradition of tropical living as the California-based spirits brand, Club Kokomo, has launched a new line of artisanal rums. The company was founded by Mike Love, singer, songwriter and co-founder of the Beach Boys, and is known for its canned ready-to-drink cocktails.

The rum collection is comprised of 3 rums which include an Artisanal White Rum, a Barrel Finished Rum and the Tahitian Vanilla Rum. The rums are distilled in San Diego by locally based distillery, Seven Caves. The rums feature a unique blend of demerara cane sugar rums along with a traditional Jamaican pot still rum. The inclusion of Jamaican-style rum assures that one of the destinations of “Kokomo” can be tasted in the rum.

The Artisanal White Rum has no added sugar or flavors and has a 45% ABV. The Barrel Finished Rum is comprised of a blend of eight and 10-year-old Jamaican, Barbadian and Dominican rums aged in new oak and ex-whiskey casks before being bottled at 46% ABV. The last edition of the lineup is the Tahitian Vanilla which uses whole vanilla beans to extract the delicate florally sweet flavor with a 40% ABV.

“The spirit of Kokomo is the serenity and good vibrations you feel when hanging out with your closest friends or family, preferably on a sandy beach,” said Love, “We took it, distilled it and bottled it for everyone who takes a sip to enjoy, anywhere. Much like a Beach Boys song.”

Distilling operations are headed by Geoff Longenecker, founder and owner of Seven Caves Spirits who said, “Making a rum this good is all about the precision of the craft along with our expertise and Mike Love’s vision,”

“With naturally derived ingredients that provide a clean yet complex finish, this line of rum is one you’re definitely going to want to get your hands on,” Longnecker added.

Club Kokomo rums are available for purchase online at the brand’s website and in select local retailers.
