Sure, K&L’s name has “Wine” in the title, but this shop in the heart of Hollywood has an incredibly diverse spirits selection with reasonable prices.
With whiskey offerings from House of Suntory, Bookers, Barrel Craft Spirits and much more, it’s clear K&L’s spirits clientele may have a thing for whiskies from around the globe — with a soft spot for scotch. At K&L Wine Merchants, you can find offerings from Campbelltown, Springbank, distinctive Compass Box expressions and much more
If whiskies aren’t your thing, don’t fret. The shop also has offerings of gin from Mexico City and an impressive agave selection, as well, which features brands like G4 tequila and El Jolgorio.
On a more premium side, K&L also sells collectors whiskies, like a 1993 Springbank 25-Year-Old “The Perfect Fifth.”
The shop hosts fine wine auctions, where they inspect bottles and make sure they have legitimate provenance, so one can rest assured about purchasing collector wines and spirits from this store.
3. Stanley’s Wet Goods
9620 Venice Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90232

Over in West L.A., just off Venice Boulevard you’ll find Stanley’s Wet Goods.
Stanley’s has fascinating spirits including Pox, a corn-based liqueur that was an ancient ceremonial spirit used in Mayan rituals, according to Men’s Journal. Those with deeper pockets can even sometimes find expressions of the incredibly rare Pappy Van Winkle.
What makes Stanley’s even cooler is its in-house wine and craft beer bar that serves appetizers like peaches and buratta with fennel and house-made beef and ricotta meatballs with toasted sourdough.
Feel free to cozy up to the bar and sample one of their wine flights featuring selections of red, white and orange wines before choosing to take some bottles home with you.
As far as wine, beer and spirits go, pricing is fairly reasonable across the board, making this mom-and-pop spirits shop one of our favorites in the City of Angels.
2. Circus Liquor
5600 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood, CA 91601

Family-owned Circus Liquor may have risen to fame for its giant neon clown sign out front, but that doesn’t mean this shop isn’t chock full of great liquor. (Photo: Circus Liquor/Instagram)
Circus Liquor is “famous,” so to speak. Since Los Angeles is a movie town, it seems like a no-brainer that at least one of these liquor stores on our list would make an on-screen appearance.
This liquor store in The Valley has been a filming location for movies and television shows like “Clueless,” “Californication” and “Grace and Frankie” because of its signature gigantic neon clown sign. Be sure to drive up at night and check it out; it’s definitely worth snapping a couple of photos.
Sightseeing aside, Circus Liquor actually has a good selection of spirits and is worth the trip.
At Circus Liquor, customers can find rare bourbons like Blanton’s and Weller. Valley locals love this clean, family-owned shop because of the great customer service and reasonably priced beer, wine and spirits.
If you want a snack after purchasing your booze, Yelpers report that Bread and Breakfast — the legendary breakfast burrito joint — is usually parked in the liquor store’s parking lot.
1. Ramirez Liquor
736 S. Soto St., Los Angeles, CA 90023

This L.A. liquor store carries craft beer in all formats — including kegs — for customers to purchase delivers locally, as well. Customers can even find the rare Pliny The Elder Double IPA from the Russian River Brewing Company.
