TOMA, the Latin culinary brand founded by actress Sofia Vergara and her son Manolo, is teaming up with León Y Sol Tequila for a limited-edition bundle to cap off the holiday season.
The companies have joined forces for a social media giveaway stuffed with food and liquor. One lucky winner will reportedly walk away with bottles of León Y Sol Blanco and Reposado, a dozen of TOMA’s empanadas, the brand’s salsa roja and a recipe card featuring a signature Spiced Holiday Margarita.
Participants are invited to follow both brands on Instagram, tag a friend and share their favorite empanada flavor or tequila pairing. If you’re interested in entering, find the social media pages here and here.
“TOMA and León Y Sol are both incredible emerging brands celebrating Latin culture and heritage that prioritize quality and authenticity,” Mary Wolff, COO at TOMA, said in a news release. “We’re thrilled to offer a unique tasting experience for the holidays bringing our brands’ top products together.”
Famous for her roles in “Modern Family” and Netflix’s “Griselda,” Vergara entered the culinary industry in 2023 with a brand that specializes primarily in pre-made empanadas and salsas. TOMA was founded alongside her son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, and hospitality executive Sam Nazarian. The brand’s modern take on Latin cuisine is widely available throughout its home state of Florida and can also be bought in Illinois and Spain.
León Y Sol is a similarly recent venture founded in August by entrepreneur Bobby Marhamat. Its name, which translates to “Lion and Sun,” can be found by way of a roaring logo on each of its matte-black bottles. The brand currently offers an additive-free blanco and reposado expression, both of which are produced by third-generation master distiller Jose Aceves at Casa Tequilera de Arandas.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with TOMA,” León Y Sol CEO Bobby Marhamat added. “This collaboration is a celebration of bold flavors, creativity, and the spirit of bringing people together—just in time for the holidays.”
Limited-edition alcohol and food kits have emerged as a hot gifting opportunity in 2024. In November, Cointreau teamed up with influencer Danielle Zaslavksy for an opulent cocktail set that came bundled with caviar, mini blinis and crème fraîche. Fireball Whisky tried its hands at the concept a year prior with the eyebrow-raising invention of “cinnamon-flavored caviar” (thankfully for consumers, not made with real fish eggs). Guinness Beer took the idea in the opposite direction earlier this month with the unveiling of a cookie-filled holiday tin alongside Levain Bakery.
