Jarritos — the fan-favorite Mexican soda known for its rainbow spectrum of bright and fruity flavors — is launching an official cocktail kit.

On Tuesday, Jarritos joined forces with Hornitos Tequila for the Margaritos Variety Pack, which bundles a bottle of reposado tequila with Lime, Mandarin and Pineapple sodas. Though it doesn’t contain all the ingredients of an official margarita (those being orange liqueur and several squeezes of fresh lime), fans can create a margaritish perfect for fighting off a heat wave.

The bundle, now available at a suggested retail price of $24.99, marries two brands with a surprising amount of shared history. Both Hornitos and Jarritos were founded in Mexico in 1950, and of course, both share an “itos” at the end of their name. The suffix indicates the smaller version of a place, person or thing. Hornitos was named after the “little ovens” used to cook its agaves, while Jarritos was named for the “little jugs” from which traditional aguas frescas are typically served throughout its home country.

“Our partnership with Jarritos is built on a shared belief that great drinks bring people together,” said Rashmi Raine, VP of Tequila at Suntory Global Spirits.

“As the Tequila de Todos, Hornitos is all about making tequila approachable and creating moments worth sharing. Together with Jarritos, we’re showing that incredible flavor doesn’t have to be complicated—just three ingredients, three steps and a refreshing serve that makes it easy to gather with friends all summer long.”

When Jarritos originally debuted in 1950, the brand was conceived as a coffee-flavored soda. Oh, how the times have changed. Following a shift to fruit flavors and decades of mounting success, the brand made a concerted push north of the border in the early 2010s with a national advertising campaign targeting younger, non-Hispanic consumers.

These days, Jarritos has evolved from a soda to a franchise, one that releases a steady stream of co-branded products year after year. Jarritos now offers 5%-ABV hard sodas produced by brewing giant Anheuser-Busch, as well as a range of canned Taiwanese bubble tea drinks dubbed Jarriboba. Elsewhere, die-hard fans can buy Jarritos popsicles, Jarritos gummies, Jarritos body wash and Jarritos x Nike sneakers that can cost as much as $850 at resale.

The Margaritos Variety Pack is the brand’s first foray into the world of spirits, though we’d be surprised if it turns out to be the last.
