Don Julio partnered with the fashion designer Willy Chavarria to release the Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Artist Edition bottle, which features elegantly designed skulls and roses. The design dropped on Aug. 27 and is meant to honor the upcoming holiday, Día de los Muertos. The bottle hosts a suggested retail price of $69.99.
The brand shared that Chavarria was inspired by his childhood growing up in the San Joaquin Valley in California and his passion for art at a young age.
“I am deeply inspired by my Mexican heritage which I strive to represent through my art and design,” Chavarria said in a statement. “The Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Artist Edition bottle along with my recent collection is a heartfelt illustration between time-honored tradition and Mexico’s modernism.”
The cristalino expression was launched in 2012 as a celebration of the brand’s 70th anniversary. The tequila spent 18 months aging in American white oak barrels, then was charcoal filtered to remove coloring. The brand shares that the unique charcoal filtering process imbues the spirit with a “crisp agave flavor typically found in a Blanco.”

Don Julio shared that the release will steadily roll out throughout the United States. The tequila will make an appearance at Willy Chavarria’s Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show in New York, with a bespoke Don Julio-inspired clothing collection.
Chavarria is a celebrated fashion designer who has designed clothes worn by celebrities like Billie Eilish and Becky G., according to Rolling Stone.
The spirits brand tapped the designer in celebration of its beloved country of origin — Mexico.
“Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino is a symbol of our leadership and love for tequila craft,” Diageo NA Vice President of Tequila Don Julio Karen Harris said in a statement. “We are proud to partner with Willy Chavarria to bring his designs to life through a collaboration that celebrates the interaction of the tradition and modernity of Mexico.”
