From Schöfferhofer to shandys, the wonderfully tart grapefruit beer market has cemented itself as an international hit. So why, you might ask, not add a little tequila?
Australia’s Moon Dog Brewery and Tequila Tromba have teamed up for the unexpected “Great Minds Pink Alike” IPA sour, a twist on the Paloma cocktail imbued with white pepper and anise from the subtle infusion of agave spirit.
James Sherry, co-founder of Tequila Tromba, says; “There is nothing better than collaborating with the great minds of Moon Dog, especially when it supports a worthy cause. It is truly a drink that everyone needs to try, regardless of being a beer fan, a tequila fan, or neither – the finely balanced profile of a Paloma in a sessionable sour, what’s not to love?!”
Tequila Tromba was founded in 2010 by Marco Cedano, who, alongside Don Julio Gonzalez (of Don Julio fame) created the first recorded batch of 100% agave tequila in 1974.
Proceeds from the new pastel-hued IPA will go toward Tequila Tromba’s Agave Rewilding Program. The initiative takes a two-pronged approach, hoping to increase biodiversity within the ecosystem while combatting the over-cultivation of blue weber agave. In the next 10 years, the group hopes to rewild 1,000 hectares of land in the highlands of Jalisco.
Great Minds Pink Alike is now available at select locations throughout Victoria and New South Wales.
