Diageo — the British spirits giant behind Casamigos, Don Julio and Johnnie Walker — has teamed up with ‘Bridgerton’ Star Regé-Jean Page for its new zero-proof tequila alternative.
Blended with prickly pear, lime and blue Weber agave flavors, Seedlip Notas de Agave’s late-December announcement is primed to capitalize on the upcoming arrival of Dry January. The top-selling non-alcoholic spirits brand in the US, Seedlip has previously specialized in riffs on gin such as its aromatic “Spice 94” and citrus-tinged “Grove 42.”
“Alongside Seedlip, I’m thrilled to welcome Seedlip Notas de Agave into the portfolio this January. Working with Seedlip, I get to share how much I’ve been enjoying the possibilities they open up for various occasions, and how they offer something a little more elevated than I’ve seen before in non-alcoholic drinks,” said Page in a press release.
As mocktails trend to new heights of popularity, zero-proof spirits are having their moment in the spotlight.
On the tequila side, we’ve seen celebrities like Danny Trejo and F1 racer Lewis Hamilton get in on the action right alongside powerhouses like AB InBev and Pernod Ricard. Even brands like White Claw are launching non-alcoholic substitutes (you heard us right — a zero-proof hard seltzer).
The alternative spirits category surpassed an $11 billion market share in 2022, up from $8 billion in 2018. With high-profile stars like Regé-Jean Page stepping in to promote the movement, those numbers are expected to keep on growing.
Seedlip Notes de Agave will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $32.99 by January 2024.
