On Monday, 1800 Tequila celebrated its partnership with the New York Knicks by way of a limited-edition bottle shaped like a trapezoidal basketball. Designed for playing on the court, this is not.

1800’s flagship Blanco expression has been reimagined with a textured silicon sleeve featuring the team’s logo at its center. Though it costs no more than the brand’s usual products at $29.99, the only place you’ll be able to find the NY Knicks release is at local retailers in New York and New Jersey.

Keen-eyed fans may have spotted the bottle in the hands of 10-time NBA All Star Carmelo Anthony at Madison Square Garden last week. Anthony, a long-time partner of 1800, has more or less become the de facto face of the prolific tequila brand in recent months. The player last worked alongside 1800 for a Doordash ad that aired in mid-November; before that, he dropped a monochrome merch capsule adorned with his “STAYME70” slogan.

1800 Tequila was founded in 1975 by the Beckmann family, the historied tequila magnates behind Jose Cuervo, Gran Centenario, Gran Coramino and Maestro Dobel. If Jose Cuervo is best known for college-room party shots and Gran Coramino for its close relationship with Kevin Hart, 1800 is easily recognized from its laundry list of limited-edition drops.

Weeks ahead of its NY Knicks release, the brand uncorked a silicon-sleeved reposado in partnership with the Los Angeles Football Club. 1800 has also doled out several NFL co-signs, delivering themed releases for the Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

For time’s sake, we won’t even begin to scratch the surface of 1800’s Artists Series, which has recruited the work of myriad A-listers including Keith Haring, Basquiat and Shepard Fairy.

The brand has not disclosed which retailers in the New York and New Jersey area will be stocking its latest product. If you’re hoping to pick one up, probably best to start searching sooner rather than later.
