Tomintoul 16 Year Old is a single malt whisky matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Bottled at 40% ABV, it is priced at $79. Established in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery is located in the Cairngorms National Park, near the highest village in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery uses water from the Ballantruan spring.
In overall ranking I’d tie the Tomintoul 16 with the Tomintoul 12. I enjoyed them equally and both had the same level of depth and interest, which wasn’t much, but enough for me to say they’re both worth a try at some point in your whisky tasting journey.
