Whiskey Del Bac Distiller’s Cut is priced at around $120. The 2024 release features a base of unsmoked American single malt finished in cognac, PX sherry and rhum agricole barrels, with a single barrel from the private selection. It undergoes secondary finishing in cognac and calvados barrels before being re-blended and bottled at cask strength. Retail prices may vary outside of Arizona.
If smoky is not your flavor, then this is not your whiskey. Many times, I find that cask strength all but screams to be diluted with water or an ice cube, but this whiskey grew on me the more I sipped.
The lively palate offers cocoa and dried fig, with a hint of grapefruit on the midpalate and a brisk finish laced with clove, cayenne and a trace of barbecue smoke.
