A subdued synthetic lime note and whipped cream — dare I say this smells just like Key Lime Pie? I'm as surprised as you are.
Looks like a daquiri, and it tastes like one too! The emulation of rum comes by way of apple (a lot of apple), brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and a smidge of cinnamon. The prevailing note is still lime, but it comes across more natural than what appeared on the nose.
A twang of dry vanilla lingers on the palate. At the back of the throat, lime combines with spiciness akin to red pepper flakes. Draws out for longer than you'd expect. Easily one of the best finishes I've gotten off an N/A product; this tends to be the area where they falter most.
I'm quite impressed by this! There's a surprising amount of complexity in here that you rarely see in nonalcoholic products, credited largely to whatever faux-rum the team over at ISH has put together. The lime comes across great as does that lightly heated finish. All said and done, I think ISH has done a great job with this rendition and I'm excited to taste more.
