Buffalo Trace Unveils $900 Golf Putters for the Perfect Bourbon Backswing

On Wednesday, Buffalo Trace teed up a set of limited-edition putters in collaboration with Bettinardi Golf. The collection features myriad references to the bourbon distillation process — bundled up with a price tag that puts Blanton’s to shame.

The putters are slated to hit the market with BB8 Classic, Studio Stock 3, Queen B6 and Queen B6 Left-Handed models sometime in early 2025. Each is reportedly made from stainless steel with a wood insert sourced from real, previously filled Buffalo Trace barrel staves. Other touches include a distressed slate finish — intended as a nod to the bourbon brand’s copper pot stills — and a set of logos located on the front and bottom of each putter.

“Achieving greatness in both golf and bourbon requires a refined touch, patient practice, and passion for precision,” Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director for Buffalo Trace Distillery, remarked in a news release. “Like our distilling and aging teams, the craftsmen at Bettinardi are fueled by a drive for perfection and an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. With the Buffalo Trace Putter, they’ve created an exceptional product that honors tradition while pushing the boundaries of quality and distinction.”

Buffalo Trace owner Sazerac has previously taken a swing at the golf scene with another of its well-known brands, albeit in a wildly different direction.

In June, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky released a “drinkable” club that stored five 50-milliliter shooters along its shaft. Those clubs cost $24.99 each; a single Buffalo Trace putter, meanwhile, will run you $900. Branded headcovers sold in the collection will cost $90.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Buffalo Trace, a brand that shares our commitment to craftsmanship and heritage,” Sam Bettinardi, President of Bettinardi Golf, added. “This collaboration brings together two companies dedicated to quality and heritage, and we can’t wait for golf and bourbon enthusiasts to experience the unique products we’ve crafted together.”
