After months of teases and delays, LALO has finally brought its High Proof Blanco to market in bonafide 750ml form. Just like the brand's flagship expression, this one is distilled with deep well water, Champagne yeast and highland agave using an additive-free recipe. Unlike the brand's flagship expression, this is bottled at 54% ABV, one notch shy of the legal maximum in the U.S. Let's see what that shiny new label means for the spirit within.

Smells like roasted agave slathered in butter. Lots of tropical fruits as well, with papaya and mango coming through as the biggest hitters. There's a hint of lime, some minerality and a smidge of baking spice fresh out the oven.
A creamy, viscous mouthfeel coats the palate with fantastic sweetness. Agave, squeezed grapefruit, lavender and a ton of honey stand out from the pack. Some pepper lingering around as well, alongside a touch of savory vegetal character I'd liken to cactus.
Long finish, though none too prickly at its proof point. White pepper, tropical fruits and a load more minerality than was present in the palate.
Fantastic work! It's a cornucopia of honeyed sweetness, agave and spice pulled off with a deft touch. LALO has developed a great reputation among tequila enthusiasts over the past few years, and this high proof evidences that the brand can stand shoulder to shoulder with one of the hottest trends in the category. Eager to see what the team has planned next.
