Coconut Cartel, a rum brand that specializes in rums cut to proof with coconut water, unveiled an “all-natural sweetener” made from sap from coconut palms. The brand intended to release the sweetener to help mixologists level up their cocktails in a more health-conscious way.
Coconut Cartel shared that as a part of the rollout, the brand would incorporate a bottle of the sweetener with a 750 ml Coconut Cartel Añejo Rum, and a five-ounce bottle of Scrappy’s Lime Bitters. The brand included a card featuring the recipe for a cocktail called the “Lima in Da Coconut Old Fashioned.” The bundle hosts a price of $65 and can be purchased at the brand’s website.
“The Lime y Coco Nectar Bundle puts the lime in da coconut!” Co-Founder of Coconut Cratel Dani Zig said in a statement. “Our new Coconut Nectar isn’t just another sweetener; it’s packed with flavor at a lower glycemic alternative to other typical syrups used in cocktails. Pair it with our Añejo Rum and Scrappy’s Lime Bitters, and you’ve got the ultimate trio for killer cocktails. We’re excited to incorporate the nectar into more bundles and see it featured on cocktail menus in select bars and restaurants soon.”
Coconut Cartel claims The Coconut Nectar is low glycemic index and rich in zinc, iron and 18 amino acids. The brand claims it possesses a “caramel-like sweetness” and “depth of flavor.” The sweetener is sourced from the sap of organic coconut palms in Mexico.
In May, Coconut Cartel unveiled a white rum from the Dominican Republic cut to proof with coconut water in May. The brand launched in 2018 with a Guatemalan Añejo premium rum that was cut to proof with coconut water.
Coconut Cartel Blanco is made exclusively from sugarcane juice from the Dominican Republic. The rum is priced at around $30, and can be purchased from the brand directly.
