Milam & Greene Unabridged Volume 2, released in 2023, is a cask-strength straight bourbon whiskey bottled at 117.6 proof. This blend includes bourbon distilled in both small copper pot stills in Texas and larger column stills in Kentucky, using a proprietary mashbill with malted rye. Tennessee barrels of varying ages were added as well. According to the brand, the blend also incorporates some of the rarest casks from the distillery, with 56 barrels used in total.
The nose is jammy, with dark fruits interwoven with chocolate frosting, Ghirardelli chocolate raspberry squares, dark chocolate-covered cherries, frosted strawberry Pop-Tart, and Fig Newton.
he taste is peppery and oaky with touches of black pepper, cloves, cardamom, oak tannins, dark chocolate, and black cherries. The finish is long with lingering spices and oak tannins.
Milam Greene Unabridged Volume 2 feels like two completely different experiences in the same glass, and it’s jarring and a letdown when put together.
This is about as rich as I can find an expression. It leans fully into the darker tones of whiskey. Woody, savory, syrupy, and grainy flavors are all at the forefront.
