Lot No. 40 is a Canadian whisky made from 100% rye at the Hiram Walker Distillery in Windsor, Ontario. It is distilled in small batches using a single copper pot still. The whisky is aged in new charred oak casks for a minimum of three years. It has an ABV of 43% and is priced around $40.
Could use a bit more age or a bit higher proof or both to get it really up there, but as is it’s not bad. Especially at the price, I don’t have much to complain about.
Tons of black pepper and barrel spices along with tobacco and a bit of bitter coffee. There’s a nondescript fruitiness on the long tannic finish. A fine Canadian example.
