  • Lovely and complex, this cask easily demonstrates that older doesn’t necessarily mean better - and often the wine of your choosing is an integral decision when aging and bottling. I love the complexity here, and the blackberry jam quality is so Oloroso and so lovely.

  • Nose:

Spritely on the nose at first, though the wine quickly catches up. Powerful cocoa, honey, praline, brown sugar, and dark wine character.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate. Rich, syrupy mouthfeel. Blackberry, brown butter, sweet currant jam and lingonberry. Lush and complex. Some cocoa, caramel.

  • Finish:

Long finish. A faint pinprick of ethanol, but things are well behaved. Toffee, cocoa, jam and stewed fruits. Powerful blackberry, fudge, currant and some peach.

  • Overall:

Lovely and complex, this cask easily demonstrates that older doesn’t necessarily mean better - and often the wine of your choosing is an integral decision when aging and bottling. I love the complexity here, and the blackberry jam quality is so Oloroso and so lovely.
