Bacardí Bids Farewell to Rum Raisin with Liquor-Infused Guava Daquiri Sorbet

The search for the perfect summer cocktail usually takes one of two forms; light and breezy sippers like the Aperol spritz play ball against heftier, spirit-centric alternatives like the piña colada and margarita. You’ll frequently find the latter options churned into their ever-popular “frozen” form, often topped with all manner of cocktail umbrellas and oversized citrus wedges.

Elevating the concept one step further, Bacardí Rum has teamed up with boozy ice cream specialist Tipsy Scoop for a limited-edition flavor. On Thursday, the duo unveiled Bacardí Ocho Guava Daiquiri sorbet, available to customers nationwide until the end of the month.

Each pint begins with fresh guava juice and a spritz of lime. The sorbet is then infused with a splash of Bacardí Reserva Ocho, aged for at least eight years in American white oak barrels.

“When our Test Kitchen received Bacardí Reserva Ocho to try, we were instantly inspired by its smooth taste and the deep, layered notes of dried fruits, spices, and oaky vanilla,” Melissa Tavss, Founder & CEO of Tipsy Scoop said in a news release. “We knew we had to create a flavor that highlights these exceptional qualities, and we’re thrilled for everyone to experience this delightful treat and celebrate Rum Month with us.”

It isn’t the first time that Tipsy Scoop has teamed up with a well-known distiller. Best known for in-house flavors like Vanilla Bean Bourbon, Cake Batter Vodka Martini and Spiked Mint Chip, the ice cream maker last collaborated with the industry on a Mi Campo Tequila Sour Watermelon Margarita sorbet. Promo images of the flavor were topped off with a mountain of wriggling gummy worms.

Four packs of the brand’s new guava flavor can be picked up online and at a “Rum Room” pop-up hosted by Bacardí in New York City later this month. The famed Puerto Rico-based distiller is a regular sight in the headlines, recently signing pop singer Camila Cabello as an international brand ambassador.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Tipsy Scoop to bring this unique flavor to life,” Lisa Pfenning, VP Bacardí North America remarked. “This collaboration not only showcases the versatility and rich heritage of Bacardí Reserva Ocho but also allows us to engage with our consumers in a fun and refreshing manner.”
