Copperworks Peatsmith is crafted from 100% malted barley and twice-distilled in Scottish copper pot stills. It uses barley malted with peat smoke from Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. The initial release consists of seven casks, all char No. 3 from Kelvin Cooperage, matured for just under three and a half years.

Odd nose that comes across almost like an IPA — hoppy and juicy.
Peat arrives on the palate, joined by menthol and some Juicy Fruit gum, plus a touch of ash.
Peat rides through on the finish joined by ash and more menthol and fruitiness.
An interesting and unique mix of flavors that work solidly together, but all told this whiskey is just OK. Not much complexity or depth.
