I was about to go for 79 but the nice finish lifted that a wee bit. Very honest effort from Downunda – and I know regular barrels will be much more to my liking.
The palate shifts quickly from white to milk chocolate, red apple, crème de cassis, peppercorn spices, and cookies, but it’s soft and gentle, finely structured, with more dark fruits coming to the fore. The finish is drying and short, with evaporating spice.
The palate shows a little more of the grains with a round and creamy spirit featuring loads of buttered toast flavors. The berry note (from the barrel) adds a light accent in the finish.
"...while Two-Fold is a whisky that grew on me considerably over several hours of tasting, I never found it quite elevated beyond everyday sipping (or mixing) status."

House Review
Nose:
Sweet and malty on the nose, the caramel and honey characteristics are first and foremost. Light pepper, some melon, a bit of rising bread and pepper.
Taste:
Sweet on the palate - moderate mouthfeel with some honey, toffee, rising bread, light coffee and a hint of brown sugar. Sweet and easy to drink with some light oak and pepper to keep the sweet qualities in check.
Finish:
Long finish with a bit of brown sugar, honey, pepper and sweet oak.
Overall:
Once again, light and fun, this bottling from Starward isn't pungent and heavy but it has plenty of complexity and a sweet, easy to drink character.
