Fizzy, effervescent candies pop on the palate and tongue. A medium-length finish, the mint diminishing to leave cinnamon and a little charred oak. A fine discovery.
The finish delivers toffee, dry oak, and spicy grain with a surprisingly, bitter-asphalty aftertaste, which at least encourages another sip to remove it, but brings down the overall appraisal.
The physical sensation is followed by an evening out of the liquid’s smoother side across the palate, bringing along the flavors of vanilla, honeycomb, and a finish with notes of Christmas spice, Medjool date, and a big, lingering oak presence. It definitely burns and dries at various times making it a slower sipper, which is ok, as it’s a joy to savor and contemplate.
It's markedly soft on the palate, with most of the flavor on the drying finish: an intriguing mix of plum skin, unsweetened chocolate, honey and a touch of clove.
